At DeliverMyMotor.com, we take pride in delivering vehicles safely, securely, and on time — but have you ever wondered what it takes to make that happen for our movers?
Today, we’re giving you a behind-the-scenes look at a typical day in the life of one of our professional vehicle transport drivers. It’s more than just driving; it’s planning, precision, and problem-solving — all with a customer-first mindset.
🕔 5:30 AM – Early Start, Early Roads
Most transport jobs start early. A driver, Jake, begins his day before sunrise. After a quick check of the day’s schedule on the DeliverMyMotor driver app, he heads outside to inspect his truck and trailer — lights, tires, hydraulics, straps, and the all-important vehicle loading ramps.
“You don’t leave unless everything’s 100%,” Jake says. “One missed detail could slow the whole day down.”
🔧 6:30 AM – First Collection
Today’s first pickup is a non-running vehicle from a customer in Manchester. Jake calls ahead to confirm the client is ready and checks traffic conditions on his route. He arrives, greets the customer, and carefully winches the car onto the trailer.
“I make sure the customer understands what I’m doing and why. Some people are really anxious — especially when their car isn’t working.”
Jake photographs the vehicle for documentation and secures it with wheel straps. Everything must be perfectly balanced for safe transport.
🛣️ 9:00 AM – The Long Haul
With the car securely loaded, Jake hits the road — destination: a garage in Bristol. Long drives are part of the job, but it’s not just cruising on the motorway. Every turn, hill, and pothole is felt, and focus is key.
Drivers use route-optimisation tools and real-time updates to avoid traffic and make accurate ETAs with platforms such as waze or google maps.
“You’re not just driving — you’re managing your time, your load, and your customer expectations all at once.”
🥪 12:30 PM – Quick Lunch, Quick Checks
A short stop at a service station gives Jake time to grab a sandwich and double-check his straps and load tension. A quick vehicle inspection mid-trip is standard practice, ensuring nothing has shifted and everything remains secure.
📦 2:00 PM – Drop-Off and Customer Handoff
Jake arrives at the Bristol garage and meets the service team. The vehicle is carefully unloaded and signed off. The receiving team gets all the relevant notes, photos, and any required information.
“A clean handover is what we’re known for. The receiving party should have zero doubts about the vehicle’s condition and how it got there.”
🔄 3:00 PM – Return Trip with a Twist
On the way back north, Jake picks up a second vehicle — a nearly new Audi being moved from a dealership to a private buyer. This customer requested enclosed transport for extra protection.
“Luxury cars come with higher expectations — and rightfully so. You’ve got to treat it like it’s your own.”
🏁 6:00 PM – Final Checks and Clocking Off
Back at base, Jake unloads the Audi, checks his mileage and paperwork, and logs his completed jobs on the system. He also shares a few notes with other members of his team about road conditions that might affect tomorrow’s runs.
🚛 It’s Not Just a Job – It’s a Responsibility
Being a vehicle transport driver isn’t a 9-to-5 gig. It’s a blend of logistics, technical skill, and people management — all rolled into one.
Whether it’s a broken-down hatchback or a showroom-ready supercar, our drivers treat every vehicle with the same care and professionalism. That’s the DeliverMyMotor.com promise.
